Nigerian indigenous rapper Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide, has shared insights into his success strategy in the music industry, emphasizing that identifying and understanding his audience has been the foundation of his career.
In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra, the Local Rapper hitmaker said he feels no pressure to alter his sound or chase international recognition, noting that he is proud to remain an indigenous artist.
“You have to identify your audience. Once you identify your audience, the rest of the world will catch up eventually. So, I have to stay true to myself and no matter where it is, what it is, I mean, in this world, I have to stay true to myself,” he said.
Olamide further expressed pride in his identity and cultural background, explaining that authenticity is what keeps him grounded.
“I’m comfortable in my skin. I’m a Naija guy, Yoruba boy, I have H-Factor and all that, and I’m proud about it. You just have to stay true to yourself,” he added.
The rapper, known for championing Yoruba rap and indigenous street culture, continues to be celebrated for his consistency and refusal to compromise his artistic identity in pursuit of global appeal.
