I’m the most important politician in South East – Orji Kalu

Orji Kalu Backs Tinubu for 2027, Dismisses Igbo Presidency Through Peter Obi

Former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has declared himself the most important politician in Nigeria’s South East region.

Kalu made the bold claim during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, where he dismissed suggestions that Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is his political leader.

“Peter is not my leader. I’m the most important politician from that zone. I have won two states before under the PPA. I have run for president before. My 4.9 million votes are still there since 2007,” Kalu said.

The lawmaker went on to highlight his political achievements, noting that his influence extended to the federal level during the administration of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.

“I achieved a lot with PPA. We had ministers, ambassadors, and several appointments under President Yar’Adua,” he added.

Challenging the former Anambra State governor to an open debate, Kalu said:

“Arrange in your studio a meeting between me and Peter Obi. Put two of us in the same place.”

His remarks have sparked conversations across political circles, with many interpreting them as a renewed bid to assert dominance in the South East political landscape.
