Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were honoured as ‘Humanitarians of the Year’ at a glamorous Project Healthy Minds gala in New York, just hours after King Charles and Prince William made a rare joint public appearance in London.
During her acceptance speech, the Duchess of Sussex reflected on her fears about raising their children, Archie and Lilibet, in today’s digital world.
“Our children, Archie and Lili, are just six and four years old. Luckily still too young for social media, but we know that day is coming,” Meghan said. “Like so many parents, we think constantly about how to embrace technology’s benefits, while safeguarding against its dangers.”
Meghan was praised as “a mother, wife, entrepreneur, and philanthropist,” while Harry’s work in mental health advocacy and his memoir Spare were also recognised. On stage, Harry added:
“This is a pivotal moment in our collective mission to protect children and support families in a digital age.”
The award — previously given only once before — recognised the couple’s ongoing commitment to mental health and online safety, including their collaborations with Stanford University experts since 2020.
The New York ceremony came just as the Prince and Princess of Wales appeared in London, where Kate Middleton discussed the dangers of excessive screen time during a visit to a children’s charity.
Meanwhile, speculation continues to swirl around reports of a possible royal reconciliation. Sources have suggested that Meghan might return to Britain later this year as part of a secret plan dubbed “Project Thaw.”
However, insiders claim that while Prince William might agree to meet Harry, he is not prepared to do so with Meghan present.
Despite the tension, a video released earlier in the day showed a touching moment between King Charles and Prince William, as the pair greeted each other warmly at the Natural History Museum, signalling renewed unity within the royal family — even as Harry and Meghan took centre stage across the Atlantic.
