Award-winning Nigerian singer Seyi Shay has finally revealed why she took a four-year break from music, describing it as a profound period of self-reflection, healing, and spiritual growth.
According to the singer, stepping away from the spotlight allowed her to reset and gain clarity about life, relationships, and purpose.
“I started a journey of isolation… I could reflect and was blessed with insight which gave me foresight,” she shared.
Seyi Shay revealed that motherhood and solitude completely reshaped her spirituality and her perspective on men. She also confirmed that she’s currently co-parenting with her daughter’s father, a Nigerian music industry professional based in the UK, adding that they remain “great friends.”
Addressing questions about marriage, Seyi Shay humorously attributed her single status to what she described as “technical issues.”
Reflecting on her evolution, the singer said she has now embraced a more grounded outlook on life and love, adding,
“I love all the men. It’s a man’s world.”
