South African rapper and TV host Nadia Nakai has revealed that she will never date a rapper or anyone in the entertainment industry again.
The media personality, who was in a relationship with the late rapper AKA, said the tragic loss of her partner left her with an experience she does not wish to repeat.
Speaking in an interview with Fresh Men Magazine, Nadia Nakai explained that her next relationship would be private. According to her, being in the public eye while grieving made the pain even harder to bear.
“I will not date another rapper or anybody in the entertainment industry ever again. I never want to do that again. I want to have a very private relationship. If he had to die, that experience was terrible for me. I didn’t like having to explain my pain to strangers at the airport. I don’t want to explain nonsense to people on social media,” she said.
Nadia added that living through AKA’s death in the public spotlight forced her to deal with comments and scrutiny from people she didn’t know, which deepened her trauma.
Her former partner, AKA (Kiernan Forbes), was tragically shot dead outside a restaurant in Durban on February 10, 2023. His murder case remains in court, with investigations and trial proceedings still ongoing.
Nadia Nakai’s emotional revelation highlights the heavy personal cost of being in a high-profile relationship, especially when tragedy strikes.
