The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has debunked reports of a disagreement between him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisting there is no conflict between them.
Speculations of a fallout surfaced after Wike was absent from the recent Council of State meeting, where Professor Joash Amupitan was approved as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Some media reports alleged that Wike was displeased because his preferred nominee, Justice Abdullahi Muhammad Liman, was not selected.
Speaking in Abuja during the commissioning of access roads in the Dakibiyu District, the minister dismissed the claims, explaining that his absence was due to official engagements and not a sign of political disagreement.
Wike clarified that the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, represented him at the meeting after he had informed the President of his prior commitments.
“There is no issue between me and the President. Those spreading such falsehood only want to create unnecessary tension,” Wike said.
The former Rivers State governor reaffirmed his loyalty to President Tinubu, noting that all ongoing projects in the FCT were made possible through the President’s support and commitment to infrastructural development.
He assured residents that more road and infrastructure projects would soon be completed, reflecting the administration’s focus on transforming the nation’s capital.
