Former Real Madrid winger, Royston Drenthe, has reportedly suffered a stroke and is currently receiving treatment in hospital. The 38-year-old was admitted on Friday, according to reports.
The news was confirmed by FC de Rebellen, a business entity that represents several former footballers.
Their statement read: “Last Friday, Royston Drenthe suffered a stroke.
“Drenthe is currently receiving good care and is in good hands.
“The team and those involved hope for a speedy recovery.”
Drenthe rose to fame while playing for Feyenoord in the Netherlands before securing a move to Real Madrid, where he won the LaLiga title in 2007.
The Dutch winger also had stints in the Premier League, featuring for Everton on loan, as well as spells with Reading and Sheffield Wednesday.
