A limousine driver who featured in Post Malone’s 2020 Tommy Lee music video is suing the rapper, claiming he was never paid for his role.
The lawsuit, filed by Larry Deuel, concerns the video shoot that also featured collaborator Tyla Yaweh. According to legal documents obtained by The Daily Mail, Deuel alleges that he did not receive any compensation for his appearance in the production.
He is seeking principal damages “in an amount not less than $2.5 million (£1.86 million)”; punitive damages “in an amount not less than $7.5 million (£5.6 million)”; and legal fees “in an amount not less than $25,000 (£186,000)”, among other costs. Deuel has also requested a trial by jury.
At the time of the shoot, Deuel was a high school teacher who also worked as a limousine driver. He claims he was initially hired to drive Post Malone and Yaweh to the rapper’s ranch, but was later asked to appear in the video.
Deuel features several times in the video, seen standing beside the limo while Yaweh performs.
The lawsuit emphasizes his contribution, stating: “Absent Mr Deuel’s presence in Tommy Lee, the theme of wealth, power, fame, privilege, and success would have been visually underwhelming, supported only by two unkempt musicians smoking blunts and riding ATVs in a dirt field.”
