Nigerian rapper and music executive M.I Abaga has said he would prefer to raise his future children in Nigeria, describing the country’s deep sense of family and community as one of its greatest strengths.
In a recent interview, M.I Abaga explained that Nigeria provides a more supportive environment for raising children than many Western countries, thanks to its communal lifestyle where relatives and friends are always willing to help.
“There are a lot of things appealing about home, especially because we’re already ingrained in that system. There’s a lot of support as well. I feel it’s very difficult for parents here. But if you have family, now you have enough people that can stay at home and support you. But it’s not easy, man,” he said.
M.I Abaga also contrasted life in Nigeria with that abroad, especially in the United States, where long work hours and limited family interaction make parenting more challenging.
He added that while raising children overseas has its attractions, Nigeria provides a stronger foundation for kids to understand their roots, culture, and identity before gaining exposure to the wider world.
