A$AP Relli Drops Shooting Lawsuit Against A$AP Rocky, Says He’s ‘Ready to Move On’

A$AP Rocky

A$AP Relli has officially withdrawn his civil lawsuit against fellow rapper A$AP Rocky, ending a long-running legal battle that stemmed from a 2021 shooting incident.

The second trial in the case was expected to begin early next year, but Relli’s attorney confirmed to Billboard that his client has chosen to abandon the suit and “focus on rebuilding his life.”

Relli — real name Terrell Ephron — filed the lawsuit in 2022, accusingA$AP Rocky of assault and seeking financial damages over an alleged shooting that took place near a Hollywood hotel. The claims followed a high-profile criminal trial, in whichA$AP Rocky (real name Rakim Mayers) was acquitted in February after prosecutors failed to prove the charges beyond reasonable doubt.

The now-dismissed civil case carried a lower burden of proof, but Relli’s lawyer said the emotional toll of the case was too great for him to continue.

“At this point, he’s ready to simply move on from the shooting,” the lawyer said. “The ordeal has been a nightmare for him, and the statements calling him a ‘liar’ and worse effectively eliminated his chances of a career in the industry.”

While the assault suit has been dropped, Relli is still pursuing a separate defamation case against A$AP Rocky and his attorney Joe Tacopina, accusing them of making false and damaging statements in media interviews — including claims that Relli’s shooting allegations were part of an “extortion” or “get-rich-quick” scheme.

The original incident occurred in November 2021, when Relli alleged that Rocky fired a handgun at him during an argument. Rocky has consistently maintained that the weapon was a prop gun loaded with blanks, not live ammunition.

Prosecutors charged the Grammy-nominated rapper with two counts of felony assault in 2022, but he rejected a plea deal and was later acquitted on all charges.
