Nollywood actress Biola Adebayo has voiced her frustration over the growing trend of criticizing celebrities for wearing the same outfits more than once.
In a recent statement, Adebayo questioned the unrealistic expectations placed on public figures to constantly debut new clothing, asking why repeating an outfit should be seen as a crime.
“Who made the law that it’s a crime to repeat my clothes? If I do not repeat them, how will you know I own them?” she said, calling out the pressure to maintain endlessly new wardrobes for public appearances.
Adebayo noted that traditional outfits such as Iro and Buba have always been worn multiple times without issue, and the same standard should apply to dresses, shoes, and bags. She condemned the rise of social-media vanity, explaining that online critics have made rewearing clothes appear abnormal.
“Social media is not your reality,” she stressed.
The actress also shared that although she is not naturally a party-goer, she attends many events out of respect and professional obligation. She urged fans to show understanding rather than judgment, acknowledging the unique pressures that come with her public role.
Adebayo concluded by encouraging support for her upcoming movie projects, adding that she will continue wearing the clothes she personally bought — without apology.
