Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs will now remain behind bars nearly a month longer than previously scheduled, following an update from the U.S. Bureau of Prisons (BOP).
Combs, who is currently serving a 50-month sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey for his conviction on prostitution-related charges, was originally slated for release on May 8, 2028. However, the BOP’s website now lists a new anticipated release date of June 4, 2028.
No official reason has been provided for the change. Efforts to obtain comment from the Bureau of Prisons were unsuccessful, reportedly due to the ongoing U.S. government shutdown, which has affected several federal agencies.
The development follows recent reports alleging that the Bad Boy Records founder had been producing and consuming alcohol while incarcerated—claims that his representative has since strongly denied. A spokesperson for Fort Dix added that the facility had “no knowledge of this information” and declined to discuss internal inmate matters.
Prior to sentencing, Diddy wrote to the presiding judge expressing that he had become sober “for the first time in 25 years.” His legal team also emphasized his ongoing participation in therapy sessions and his mentorship of fellow inmates.
Diddy’s lawyers have filed a notice of appeal with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, seeking to overturn his conviction.
Despite his incarceration, Diddy continues to face significant legal troubles. He is currently the subject of over 70 civil lawsuits nationwide, many of which involve allegations of sexual misconduct—claims he has repeatedly denied.
