EPL: Alexander Isak buys £30k protection dog following death threats

Liverpool striker Alexander Isak has taken significant steps to enhance his personal security, investing £30,000 in a highly trained protection dog following a surge of online abuse and death threats. According to SunSport, the 26-year-old has been under intense pressure since completing his headline-making £130 million transfer from Newcastle United — a move that became one of the most controversial deals of the summer after Isak reportedly went on strike to push it through.

In addition to the backlash surrounding his transfer, Isak and his Swedish teammates were subjected to death threats online after Sweden finished bottom of their group in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. A source close to the player revealed that the forward is now focused on creating a sense of stability and safety off the pitch after a turbulent few months.

“Alexander has had a very high-profile summer thanks to the drawn-out transfer to Liverpool and the high price the club paid for him,” the source said.
“He wants to get settled off the pitch and getting a protection dog is an essential part of that.”

The Premier League star is acquiring the dog from Phoenix Dogs, a specialist provider renowned for supplying elite-level protection animals. The Doberman being delivered to Isak has been described by the company as “beautiful inside and out” and a “fabulous beast,” combining loyalty with top-tier defensive capabilities.

Isak, who signed a lucrative six-year contract worth £300,000 per week in September, is now among a growing number of Premier League footballers turning to trained guard dogs as burglaries and targeted home invasions become increasingly common.

Other players who have recently adopted similar security measures include Everton defender Jake O’Brien, while high-profile stars such as Marcus Rashford, Kyle Walker, and Jack Grealish also rely on security dogs to protect their homes and families.
