Nigerian comedian Freedom Atsepoyi, popularly known as Mr Jollof, has spoken out after a physical altercation with popular social media critic Very Dark Man (VDM) aboard a commercial flight.
According to multiple reports, the pair exchanged blows on a United Nigeria Airlines flight from Asaba, Delta State, to Lagos, causing chaos on board. A viral video circulating online captured the heated moment the two men fought while other passengers watched in shock.
In response to the incident, Mr Jollof shared a video on his Instagram page, tendering a public apology to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), United Nigeria Airlines, and all passengers affected by the disruption.
He also apologised to his family and employer, stressing that he is not a violent person and only acted in self-defence.
Mr Jollof said:
“I want to use this medium to sincerely apologise to the NCAA, United Nigeria Airlines, and the passengers that boarded the airline. I was only defending myself. You guys saw what happened, and I am very sorry if I delayed your appointment. Pardon me. This isn’t my kind of person. It will never happen again.
“To my lovely wife, I know you’re proud of me. To my kids, I am sorry, Daddy will never do this again. To my boss, I am very sorry, this isn’t my kind of person.”
The incident has since sparked widespread conversation online, with many Nigerians debating what truly led to the fight and whether disciplinary action should follow.
