Viral screenshots of alleged private conversations between feminist writer Ozzy Etomi and a woman identified as Maki — the former partner of Paystack co-founder Ezra Olubi — have intensified a growing online controversy involving all three parties.
The screenshots, dated May 18, 2020 and circulated widely on Friday, were reportedly leaked by Maki to prove that she and Etomi were once close friends, contradicting Etomi’s previous public denial of their relationship.
The chats also surfaced shortly after Maki publicly called Etomi out for her alleged role in the ongoing allegations against Ezra Olubi.
In the leaked conversations seen by Dockaysworld, both women appeared to admit to cheating in past relationships while discussing Etomi’s marriage.
One of the messages attributed to Etomi reads:
“I think he is more concerned with not having a ‘broken home’, also he cheats which spurred the separation, so yeah he is comfortable with the status quo. I cheat too but he doesn’t know that. So I am all righteous indignation.”
She is also shown describing her marriage as one built on “boredom” and a “convenient arrangement.”
The alleged chats suggest that both partners planned to remain married for five to six years, have a child, and later file for divorce.
Why the Leak Is Trending
The screenshots have gone viral partly because they emerged during a separate scandal involving Ezra Olubi, who has been trending after disturbing old tweets attributed to him resurfaced online.
The tweets, many of which contain inappropriate and “unhinged” themes, have generated widespread criticism.
Maki initially made veiled allegations that social media users quickly connected to Olubi. She later confirmed that her accusations were indeed about him, declaring she was ready to face him in court.
Amid the mounting backlash, Olubi deactivated his X account without explanation. He has also been suspended by Paystack pending investigations into allegations of sexual misconduct.
Public Reaction
The leak has sparked heated discussions across social media, with many questioning the credibility of Etomi’s previous statements and the nature of her involvement in the wider controversy surrounding Olubi.
As the situation continues to unfold, neither Etomi nor Olubi has released an official statement on the latest developments.
