Afrobeats star Stanley Omah Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, has stated that prayers alone are not enough to solve Nigeria’s worsening insecurity and economic challenges.
In a candid post shared on his X handle on Thursday, the Soso crooner argued that meaningful change will only come when Nigerians begin to take deliberate and proactive steps.
“No Jesus, no Allah, no prayer is saving us. Nothing changes until we wake TF up,” he wrote.
Omah Lay’s remarks come amid renewed calls from Christian and Islamic clerics urging citizens to pray for the nation as it grapples with rising terrorist attacks, kidnappings, and widespread hardship.
His comments add to the wave of reactions from prominent entertainers who have publicly condemned the recent violent incidents, including the terrorist attack on a church in Kwara State and the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State. Don Jazzy, Davido, Falz, and Mr. Macaroni are among those calling on authorities to take immediate and decisive action.
Similarly, singer Yemi Alade, reacting on Wednesday, voiced her opposition to suggestions of foreign intervention in Nigeria’s security crisis. According to her, “African problems need African solutions, not new problem.”
