Nollywood veteran actress Shaffy Bello has expressed gratitude after being nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Roleat the 2025 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).
The 55-year-old actress shared the news on Instagram on Thursday, describing the nomination as “the evidence of God’s grace.”
She wrote: “The Evidence of God’s Grace. Thank you @amaawards_ for the recognition. I do not take it for granted. I am deeply grateful. Congratulations to ALL the nominees. We’ve already WON 🏆 See you on the 9th.”
Shaffy received the nomination for her stellar performance in The Masked King, alongside fellow nominees Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman (The Serpent Gift), Analisa Munyana (Mucoma: The Battle of the Couple), Florence Mariserena (Small Gods), Osas Ighodaro, Fat Toure, and Maud Guerard (3 Cold Dishes).
The 21st edition of the AMAA ceremony is scheduled to take place in Lagos on November 9, 2025.
Founded in 2005 by the late Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, the Africa Movie Academy Awards celebrate excellence in African filmmaking and remain one of the most prestigious honours on the continent.
