The Presidency has announced that President Bola Tinubu will soon hold a meeting with his United States counterpart, Donald Trump, “in the coming days.”
According to Daniel Bwala, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, the meeting will focus on allegations of Christian genocide in Nigeria — an issue that recently sparked strong comments from Trump.
Bwala disclosed this in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), where he emphasised that both leaders share a common goal of combating insurgency and terrorism.
“Both President Bola Tinubu and President Donald Trump have shared interest in the fight against insurgency and all forms of terrorism against humanity,” Bwala wrote.
The planned meeting comes days after Trump accused the Nigerian government of ignoring attacks on Christiansand even threatened possible military action to “wipe out” terrorists responsible for the killings.
The former U.S. president also warned that America might suspend all aid and assistance to Nigeria if the situation persists.
Bwala noted that both Presidents are committed to counterterrorism cooperation, recalling that Trump previously supported Nigeria by approving arms sales, which Tinubu’s administration has “adequately utilised” in its ongoing fight against insurgency.
