U.S. President Donald Trump has shared that his youngest son, Barron Trump, is an avid admirer of football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. The revelation came after Ronaldo met Barron ahead of a White House dinner on Tuesday night, where Trump later honoured the Portuguese icon.
Ronaldo was part of the high-profile delegation attending the state dinner as President Trump hosted Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Washington, D.C. The Al Nassr captain arrived in the U.S. with his fiancée, Georgina Rodríguez, joining other global figures in the room, including tech billionaire Elon Musk and U.S. Vice President JD Vance.
Dressed in a sleek black tuxedo, the 40-year-old forward took his seat among world leaders and top executives. During his remarks, Trump namechecked Ronaldo, noting that Barron had been thrilled to meet the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus star.
“This room is loaded up with the biggest leaders in the world – business, sports…” Trump said. “My son is a big fan of Ronaldo… Barron got to meet him and I think he respects his father a little bit more now – just the fact that I introduced you. So I just want to thank you both for being here.”
Ronaldo recently received a red card in Portugal’s World Cup qualifying match against Ireland and was suspended for their subsequent victory over Armenia. The win secured Portugal’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada.
