“You threw up in my hands, and I cleaned you up” – Peggy Ovire Breaks Silence on Assault Allegations by Actor Taye Arimoro

“I count you twice whenever I count my blessings” – Peggy Ovire tells Frederick Leonard, he reacts

Popular Nollywood actress Peggy Ovire has addressed the viral allegations made by actor Taye Arimoro, who accused her and her team of assault and tampering with his car during a movie shoot in Lagos.

Taye had earlier claimed that the altercation began after his night contract ended. According to him, his call time for the next day was 10 a.m., while his work that night was supposed to end by 11 p.m.

He alleged that he waited until around midnight to leave, only to be blocked, with his tyres deflated and his vehicle obstructed.

In one of his Instagram videos, captioned “I went back to try and get the things in my car”, the actor said:Actor Taye Arimoro Accuses Peggy Ovire of Assault and Damaging His Car on Movie Set

“Yeah, I’m okay. I’m alright. I have injuries. Serious injuries, but… I’m more concerned about… the things in my car… I have injuries in my lower gum. It’s just crazy how things are happening.”

Reacting to the claims, Peggy Ovire refuted the allegations and offered her side of the story. She stated that the confrontation escalated only after Taye allegedly became physical with two crew members.

“Taye, you beat up two crew members simply because you felt they had no voice – no social media presence, no one to speak for them. They were only begging you to please complete two short scenes so we could wrap the night. Moments later, you went live to record their reaction – leaving out the part where the violence began. No one deserves to be treated that way, especially people who are only doing their jobs,” she said.

Peggy further recalled moments from a previous production where she had shown care for Taye, describing how she once looked after him when he fell ill on set.

“From our first job together, I’ve always shown you kindness and care. When you were sick and couldn’t film, I made sure you didn’t drive yourself. You threw up in my hands, and I cleaned you up. I personally ensured the driver took you home, gave you new pajamas, ran hot water for you, arranged a comfortable space in my guest room, and made sure you took your medication,” she recounted.

The actress went on to explain that tensions began when she asked Taye to film one more scene before a behind-the-scenes recording, after which she noticed a sudden change in his attitude.

“Later, when the Production Manager approached you to appeal for more time, you got physical with him. By the time I came outside, you were struggling over the car keys. I tried to intervene and asked you to please calm down and hand me the keys, but you drove off while I was still beside the car. Moments later, I discovered my driver was bleeding from his ear after being hit multiple times. I was shocked. I drove to the gate to prevent things from escalating further.”

As of now, neither the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) nor the production house has issued an official statement regarding the incident.
