Award-winning Nigerian singer Kizz Daniel has addressed the controversy surrounding his no-show at a concert in Paris, which left fans disappointed and sparked online backlash.
The incident, which trended across social media in the early hours of Tuesday, saw concertgoers expressing anger after the “Buga” crooner failed to appear on stage.
Taking to his Instagram story, Kizz Daniel clarified that the situation was beyond his control, revealing that it stemmed from a contract dispute between his tour agent and the show promoter.
“FSHALAYE. First, this wasn’t my fault. Whatever clips you’re seeing is a dispute between my tour agent @olamidebaron and the show promoter. I was paid in full by @olamidebaron to perform in Paris. He sold the show to another promoter, who allegedly breached the contract by not paying the balance. I will be posting the notice of breach of contract,” he wrote.
The singer also shared documents from Baron’s company acknowledging the cancellation of the Paris show.
Providing further details, Kizz Daniel explained that although he had been prepared to travel early, flight delays caused by the ongoing dispute made it impossible for him to perform.
“I’ve been ready since 6 am for a 12:25 pm flight. Thankfully, my brother @adesope_shopsydoo was with me at the hotel. We were delayed from flying by @olamidebaron so he could secure his payment, which I wasn’t aware of until later. The issue was eventually resolved with the promoter, but we missed our flight. The next available flight, according to Baron, was at 5:25 pm,” he stated.
The singer emphasized that he had every intention to perform and was fully prepared, but circumstances beyond his control prevented the show from happening.
Kizz Daniel is currently on his “Maverick” tour, which has taken him across multiple cities in Europe. Despite the Paris setback, fans are hopeful that the remaining tour dates will proceed without further incident.
