Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Kizz Daniel has officially regained full ownership of his debut album, New Era, and hit singles “Yeba” and “Sofa”, marking a major personal and professional milestone in his long-standing dispute with former label G-Worldwide.
The award-winning singer shared the news via his official Twitter handle, expressing gratitude and reflecting on the struggle to reclaim his music rights:
“From long nights in the studio to several mediations 👨🏿⚖️ FINALLY, I NOW OWN EVERY SONG ON THE New Era album (2016) + Yeba & Sofa (singles) — I GOT MY MASTERS BACK 🙏🏾 This means more than words can explain. Thank you for riding with me. #NewEra #MyCatalog #Grateful.”
Released in 2016 under G-Worldwide, New Era catapulted Kizz Daniel to fame with chart-topping tracks like “Woju,” “Laye,” and “Mama”, solidifying his status as one of Nigeria’s breakout stars. However, contractual disputes and ownership issues led to years of legal battles, ultimately pushing him to leave G-Worldwide and establish his own label, Flyboy Inc.
With his masters now fully reclaimed, Kizz Daniel gains complete creative and commercial control over New Era and its associated singles, allowing him to profit directly from licensing, streaming, and other revenue streams.
This victory is being celebrated across the Nigerian music industry as a landmark moment for artist rights and independence, inspiring other musicians to seek control over their intellectual property.
