Endorsing Tinubu Won’t Automatically Earn You 2027 Ticket – Wike tells Fubara

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned politicians that joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) or openly declaring support for President Bola Tinubu does not automatically guarantee a second-term ticket ahead of the 2027 general election.

Wike issued the warning while addressing supporters during a political engagement in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, as part of his ongoing consultations across the state.

The former Rivers State governor was received by the Chairman of Emohua LGA, Chidi Lloyd, alongside traditional ruler Sergeant Awuse and other party leaders.

Speaking to the crowd, Wike stressed that support for President Tinubu is no longer a bargaining chip for political ambitions in the state.

“The issue is not whether you are supporting Tinubu. That one, we have settled long ago. Tinubu issue is not an issue again,” he said.

“Nobody should come and tell me, ‘I am for Tinubu, on your mandate we shall stand.’ Who is not for Tinubu in Rivers State? That cannot give you any ticket.”

Wike’s remarks come amid recent political realignments in Rivers State, including the defection of his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and others to the ruling APC, weeks after a period of political tension and reconciliation between both leaders.
