Activist Harrison Gwamnishu Arrested Over Alleged Diversion of Kidnap Ransom in Edo State

Popular Nigerian activist Harrison Gwamnishu has reportedly been arrested by the Nigerian police over allegations of embezzling part of a ransom meant to secure the release of a kidnapped couple in Edo State.

The development was revealed by a family friend of the kidnapped victims, as well as media personality Verydarkman, who claimed credit for pushing for Harrison’s arrest.

Recall that Gwamnishu had denied stealing from the ransom after being accused of diverting N5.4 million and only returning it when confronted.

According to the family friend, the kidnappers allegedly released only the pregnant wife while keeping her husband in captivity because the ransom money was incomplete.

Verydarkman has now released a video showing the moment Harrison returned the allegedly diverted sum to the police after being caught.

He also confirmed that the activist was arrested on Wednesday night and is currently being held at the State CID in Benin, where he is undergoing interrogation.

He added that he is waiting to hear Harrison’s response after his release, as, according to him, the activist has not offered any clear explanation so far.
