Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, was on Thursday taken urgently to the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, following reports that he collapsed while in his office.
Security personnel have since sealed off the medical facility, while several senior government figures have visited to show their concern over the situation.
Efforts to get comments from the deputy governor’s media aide, Mr. Doubara Atasi, were not successful.
A member of the hospital’s management, however, confirmed that the deputy governor is receiving the highest level of medical attention and remains stable.
As of the time this report was compiled, the Bayelsa State government has not issued any official statement regarding the incident
