Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle is reportedly yet to receive his salary for the past two months, raising concerns as preparations intensify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Chelle, who earns a monthly salary of $55,000 and is responsible for paying his backroom staff, has allegedly not been paid since the 2026 World Cup Playoffs in Morocco.
According to Vanguard, the delay dates back to last month’s qualifiers.
Despite the outstanding payments, Chelle oversaw Nigeria’s World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic, as well as the playoff fixtures against Gabon and DR Congo, without remuneration.
Earlier this week, the coach met with the NFF technical committee in Abuja to discuss Nigeria’s AFCON plans. The Super Eagles are placed in a group with Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda for the first round of the tournament in Morocco.
