Former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has clarified that while he is not part of any northern coalition calling for the immediate removal of President Bola Tinubu, he is fully committed to ensuring that the Tinubu administration and the All Progressives Congress (APC) are voted out of office in 2027.
Tambuwal made this known during an appearance on Channels Television, where he spoke about his recent encounter with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). According to him, the current administration is uneasy about his active role in the opposition African Democratic Party (ADC).
When asked directly whether he believed his EFCC trial was politically motivated, Tambuwal responded, “Yes”.
Pressed to identify those behind the alleged targeting, he said, “Those who are concerned are worried about my activities.”
Explaining further, the former governor linked the pressure to his political engagement and opposition work. “It’s because I’m fully involved in a process that would democratically and lawfully, by the grace of God, send this government out of office. [I’m] 100 percent committed to it.
“By the grace of God we’ll chase this government out of power, with the help of God and Nigerians.”
Tambuwal also addressed claims that northern politicians are plotting against the Tinubu administration. While he acknowledged widespread dissatisfaction across the country, he distanced himself from any regional agenda.
“It’s true that Nigerians are not happy,” he said.
“I’m not among some people in the North coming together to say that Tinubu must go. I’m involved in the national coalition that there should be a change of guard in Aso Rock through a constitutional democratic process on May 29.”
He stressed that his focus remains on achieving political change through lawful and democratic means rather than regional alignments or undemocratic actions.
