Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has dismissed speculation that he will leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging to remain in his party despite ongoing leadership crises.
Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja during the public presentation of the book ‘Headlines and Soundbites: Media Moments that Defined an Administration’ by former Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Makinde emphasized his commitment to the PDP.
“I am not APC, and I am not about to become APC,” he declared, affirming his intention to navigate the challenges within his party without defecting.
Makinde also highlighted the need for genuine collaboration across political divides, stating that Nigeria’s progress relies on leaders prioritizing the welfare of citizens over personal ambitions.
He criticized the country’s elite for contributing to deepening divisions, urging a focus on unity and collective effort to advance national development.
