Veteran Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has indirectly responded to a public apology from her godson and colleague, Jamiu Azeez, by sharing the personal principles that guide her life.
Azeez, on Thursday, took to Instagram to apologise for what he described as “childish” behaviour that caused Aiyeola emotional pain.
In his post, he referred to the actress as a sister, a mother figure, a confidant, and a longtime supporter, and expressed regret for the hurt he admitted to causing.
Despite the apology, Aiyeola did not publicly acknowledge or accept it. Instead, on Friday, she shared a post on her Instagram page outlining two rules she lives by, emphasizing emotional discipline and self-respect.
“You see rules no4 & 6
NEVER LET EMOTIONS WEIGH YOU DOWN
NEVER LET THEM SEE YOU FINISH
plsssssssssssssss write them boldly in capitals for your own good,” she wrote.
The post has been widely interpreted by fans as a subtle response to the apology, reinforcing her stance on emotional boundaries rather than engaging directly in the situation.
Opeyemi Aiyeola is a respected figure in the Nigerian film industry, with a career spanning more than two decades. In 2024, she survived an emergency surgery during a holiday and later expressed gratitude to fans and colleagues for their prayers and support.
Known for speaking candidly on issues affecting professionalism in Nollywood, the actress has previously addressed industry conduct publicly. Earlier this year, she responded to a comment made by actress Eniola Badmus about her hairline, stressing that remarks from fellow professionals should always be respectful.
Her latest post further reflects her reputation for firm personal principles and emotional self-preservation.
