“Let Your Conscience Lead” — Opeyemi Aiyeola Urges Colleagues Amid Jos Killings

Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has issued a strong appeal to fellow entertainers, urging them to reflect on their political choices amid Nigeria’s worsening security situation.

In a video message released on Monday, the actress reacted to reports of a deadly attack in Jos, where several people were killed following a gunman’s assault in the Angwan Rukuba area of Jos North Local Government Area.

Expressing concern over what she described as the lack of widespread attention to the incident, Aiyeola warned against allowing personal gains to override moral responsibility.

“We woke up to another news of terrorist attack in Jos. But unfortunately, it is not trending as usual. It is another political season and I would like Nigerians on ground and those with voices on social media to search through their consciences and do the right thing,” she said.

Addressing her colleagues directly, she added that decisions driven by wealth or influence could have lasting consequences.

“My colleagues, everything shouldn’t be about money, influence and affluence. Let us allow our conscience to lead us and do the right thing. My wonderful colleagues, I’m not throwing a shade at anybody and nobody can tell you how to swing politically but you should think of your generation’s future.”

The attack, which occurred on Sunday night, left multiple casualties and several others injured, further heightening concerns over security in the region.

In response, the Plateau State Government imposed a 48-hour curfew across affected areas, while security agencies continue investigations into the incident.

Aiyeola’s comments come at a time when public figures are increasingly being scrutinized for their political alignments, especially as Nigeria approaches another election cycle.
