Snoop Dogg named honorary Olympics coach for Team USA

Snoop Dogg will “celebrate and uplift” athletes as he steps into the role of Team USA’s first-ever honorary coach for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games.

The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) announced on Thursday that it has teamed up with the hip-hop legend to support American athletes at both the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.

In a statement, Snoop expressed excitement about the appointment, saying he couldn’t wait to begin.

“Team USA athletes are the real stars – I’m just here to cheer, uplift and maybe drop a little wisdom from the sidelines,” he said. “This team represents the best of what sport can be: talent, heart, and hustle. If I can bring a little more love and motivation to that, that’s a win for me.”

As part of his new role, Snoop Dogg will help raise awareness for the Team USA Fund, which offers direct support to help athletes achieve their highest potential.

The artist, whose real name is Calvin Broadus Jr., is also collaborating with Fanatics on a Coach Snoop × Team USA merchandise line launching this month, with a portion of proceeds set to benefit Team USA.

USOPC chief executive officer Sarah Hirshland expressed her excitement about Snoop’s involvement, noting the strong connection he quickly formed with athletes.

“From the moment Snoop met Team USA athletes, there was an instant connection-mutual respect, genuine curiosity, and a lot of laughter,” she said. “His enthusiasm for the Olympic and Paralympic Movement is contagious, and we’re thrilled to officially welcome him as a member of the Team Behind the Team.”

Snoop Dogg previously confirmed in September that he would be part of NBCUniversal’s coverage team for the Winter Olympics.

The 2026 Winter Olympics will take place across venues in Lombardy and Northeast Italy from 6 to 22 February 2026.
