2027: Describing Obi as best insult to other ADC leaders  –  Momodu slams Obidients

Dele Momodu Declares Loss of Faith in PDP

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Dele Momodu, has criticised supporters of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over claims that their principal is the best candidate within the coalition.

Momodu spoke during an interview on Channels Television, where he faulted members of the Obidient movement for insisting that Obi must automatically emerge as the ADC’s presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 election.

The publisher of Ovation Magazine described such claims as disrespectful to other leaders within the coalition, noting that portraying Obi as “the best” amounts to an insult to other prominent figures in the ADC.

Momodu was reacting to recent comments by rights activist Aisha Yesufu and economist Prof. Pat Utomi, both known allies of Obi, who warned that their support could be withdrawn if Obi is not given the party’s presidential ticket.

According to Yesufu, Obi is the best among the political figures within the ADC and should not be made to play second fiddle to anyone in the coalition, a position earlier echoed by Utomi.

Responding to the remarks, Momodu said the narrative being pushed by some sections of the Obidient movement was divisive and dismissive of other leaders in the party.

“When I talked about people being rambunctious, I read stories where someone was quoted as saying, ‘Why will the best of us always be playing second fiddle to the worst of us?’

“What determines who is the worst of us,” the Ovation Magazine publisher asked.

He maintained that such rhetoric undermines unity within the coalition and weakens the collective strength of the ADC ahead of future political contests.
