Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has sparked widespread reactions online after requesting ₦10 million from skit maker and streamer Carter Efe to appear on his livestream.
The exchange, which has since gone viral, began when Carter Efe reached out to Portable via direct message, inviting him to join an upcoming live session.
In response, Portable stated that his appearance would cost ₦10 million. Carter Efe attempted to negotiate by offering ₦9.9 million, but the singer rejected the counteroffer and insisted on the full amount.
Explaining his stance, Portable referenced occasions where high-profile celebrities such as Davido, Ini Edo, Shallipopi, and Wale had attended his events and shown appreciation through gifts. He stressed that he does not chase opportunities, declaring that he is already a star.
“Stars do not beg to shine,” Portable reportedly told Carter Efe, advising him to raise funds from his audience if he truly wanted his participation.
The singer further claimed that his decision to charge was divinely inspired, stating that God instructed him not to give his “glory” away for free.
“I was told, ‘Do not give them the glory for free, collect money,’” he said.
Portable maintained that his appearance on the livestream is non-negotiable unless his ₦10 million demand is met, reiterating that he would not accept any lesser amount.
