The Lagos State Government has dismissed reports suggesting a rift between Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile.
According to the statement, Governor Sanwo-Olu was drawn to reports circulating on social media and other online platforms alleging a strained relationship between the two governors.
“We wish to state clearly that this is not true. In fact, it is the direct opposite of the relationship that exists between the two leaders,” Akosile said.
He explained that Governors Sanwo-Olu and Abiodun maintain regular communication and meet frequently to discuss matters relating to the development of their respective states.
“The two governors meet regularly and speak with each other frequently on issues concerning the development of their respective states,” the statement noted.
Akosile added that the cordial relationship between both leaders is further strengthened by the shared boundary between Lagos and Ogun states, as well as their strong socio-cultural and economic ties.
The Lagos State Government also warned individuals and platforms spreading what it described as false information aimed at creating discord between the two governors to desist.
“We advise those seeking to plant seeds of discord between the two leaders through fake news to desist forthwith, as both Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Governor Dapo Abiodun share a common vision to improve the welfare and quality of life of their people,” the statement added.
