Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Wizkid has responded aggressively to comments made by Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti, reigniting an online clash centred on comparisons with Seun’s late father, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
Taking to Instagram Stories on Tuesday, Wizkid addressed Seun directly with a series of heated remarks, claiming superiority and mocking the Afrobeat singer.
“Pussy boy Ebigbirdkuti ok I big pass your papa!! Wetin u one do? Fool at 40!” he wrote.
In another post, he added, “I’m Big Wiz everyday, bigger than your papa! Wetin you wan do?”
Wizkid also carried the confrontation to X (formerly Twitter), where he criticised Seun’s stance and referenced Fela’s legacy.
“Fela fight for freedom, this fool dey fight FC! Oloshi omo ale!” the singer wrote.
The outburst followed comments made by Seun Kuti during an Instagram Live session, where he warned Wizkid’s fanbase, known as Wizkid FC, to stop comparing the singer to his father.
“Wizkid FC, keep Fela’s name out of your mouths. You try to claim that your fake artiste is the new Fela… It is actually an insult to compare Wizkid to Fela,” Seun said.
He accused the fans of acting out of ignorance rather than defiance, adding that constant fan rivalries were damaging the music industry.
“Why must you always involve Fela in your petty discussions?” he asked.
Seun has also previously accused Wizkid of adopting a nickname he claims to have originated. In an earlier livestream, he alleged that the singer copied his moniker and challenged him to be more original.
The public back-and-forth between the two artistes has since sparked massive reactions online, with fans divided over respect for Fela’s legacy, freedom of artistic influence, and the growing tension between Afrobeats and Afrobeat generations.
