Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has said his future with Nigeria’s national team is entirely in the hands of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Chelle, who signed a two-year contract with the NFF in January 2025, was tasked with leading the Super Eagles to the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
However, Nigeria fell short of that objective after losing 4–2 on penalties to host nation Morocco in their semi-final clash on Wednesday night in Rabat.
Despite the disappointment, the 48-year-old coach indicated that he remains open to continuing in his role.
“My future, I don’t know for now. I am the coach of Nigeria at this moment, but it depends on whether the NFF want me to continue or not,” Chelle said after the defeat to Morocco.
He added that discussions about his future would take place after the tournament.
“The tournament is not over yet. After the AFCON, I will meet with the NFF and we will decide the next step.”
