The ongoing clash between Nicki Minaj and journalist Don Lemon has taken a political turn, with former U.S. President Donald Trump now weighing in on the controversy.
The feud began after Minaj lashed out at Lemon over his coverage of an anti-ICE protest that disrupted a church service in Minneapolis. The rapper accused Lemon of bias and called for his arrest in a profanity-laced social media post that quickly went viral.
Reacting on his Truth Social platform, Trump appeared to side with Minaj, amplifying a comparison that criticised what he described as unequal justice under the law.
“A small group of elderly ladies were protesting at an abortion clinic and were given 40 years in prison for violating the FACE Act,” Trump wrote. “I would like to see the same kind of sentence for Don Lemon and the people that broke into that church and did that during services.”
Although Trump did not mention Minaj by name, the timing of his statement drew widespread attention amid the escalating feud.
Lemon has since responded in interviews, including an appearance on TMZ, where he labelled Minaj “ignorant” and “bigoted,” questioned her political understanding, and criticised her growing alignment with Trump-era politics.
With Minaj openly supporting the President and appearing at conservative-leaning events, the dispute has now expanded beyond celebrity commentary into a broader political spectacle, drawing sharp reactions across social media and media circles.
