Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has appealed to his supporters to remain calm amid the ongoing political face-off between him and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The governor made the call while speaking at a New Year banquet held on Thursday at the Government House in Port Harcourt. He explained that his camp was not making noise because they fully understood the situation, adding that those who were “barking” were doing so out of ignorance.
Fubara reassured his supporters that all necessary measures were in place to ensure the smooth running of his administration as well as his re-election plans.
“Don’t be disturbed by what is happening. Caesar in one of his quotes said, the only reason the dog barks is when it doesn’t understand,” he said.
“If you have a dog in your house and it knows you, does it need to bark? So when the dog starts barking maybe it is seeing something it doesn’t understand.
“We are not barking because we understand. We know where we are going and we have set all the things that are needed to make the journey smooth,” the governor added.
