“Tinubu has the right to fire me” – Wike reacts to calls for his dismissal

Nyesom Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reacted to calls demanding his removal from office, stating that only President Bola Tinubu, who appointed him, has the authority to sack him.

Wike made the remarks on Sunday during a thank-you visit to the Obio/Akpor area of Rivers State. He stressed that his continued stay in office depends solely on the confidence of the President in his performance.

According to the minister, if President Tinubu believes he no longer has anything to offer, he has the right to replace him, noting that such decisions are not for critics to make.

Wike also said the people of Rivers State should be proud of his achievements as FCT minister, insisting that his work in Abuja has not disappointed Nigerians.

He added that public criticism often comes as a result of visibility and performance, stating that people rarely talk about those who are not making an impact.
