Reality TV star and comedian Aderombi Adedayo, popularly known as DeeOne, has claimed that his invitation by the Nigeria Police Force is politically motivated.
The comedian made the allegation on Monday morning in a video posted on his Instagram page, saying he had been invited to be questioned and was already on his way to the police station.
In the emotionally charged video, DeeOne alleged that police officers had been trailing him and warned security agencies to stay away from political matters. He also insisted that he was not afraid and did not want anyone pleading on his behalf.
“My invitation was politically motivated. And let it be clear, Nigeria police and Nigerian army, stay away from politics. Another thing, one percent of the one percent are not scared,” he said.
The comedian went further to suggest that he was prepared for whatever outcome might arise from the invitation.
“Nobody should beg for me. You have to fight for your rights in this country. So I’m on my way. If this will be my last video on earth, no problem. No be today police brutality don dey happen. I will face anything that wants to happen. For Nigeria police to want to know where I stay, to want to kidnap me,” DeeOne stated.
DeeOne had earlier revealed last Thursday that he was invited by the Force Intelligence Department, which he initially described as a routine interview.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force has not released any official statement regarding the invitation, nor responded to the allegations made by the comedian.
DeeOne rose to prominence after his appearance on Big Brother Naija and has since built a career in comedy and social commentary, frequently weighing in on national and political issues via social media.
