The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Kannywood actress Samha Inuwa over an alleged naira mutilation offence.
The arrest was confirmed in a post shared on the commission’s official Facebook page on Tuesday, alongside a photo showing the actress holding a placard detailing the alleged offence.
According to the EFCC, the Kano Zonal Directorate arrested Samha Inuwa on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, following the circulation of a video on social media allegedly showing her “conspicuously cleaning mucus from her nose with naira notes.”
The commission said it traced the viral video, identified the actress, and subsequently arrested her for questioning.
“She is currently being held at the commission’s detention facility while investigations continue,” the EFCC stated, adding that she will be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
Naira mutilation is a punishable offence under Nigerian law. The Central Bank of Nigeria Act expressly prohibits the defacing, misuse, or improper handling of the national currency and imposes penalties on individuals found guilty.
As of the time of reporting, no statement has been issued by the actress regarding the allegation.
