Filmmaker Biodun Stephen has returned to Agege, Lagos, a place she says played a major role in shaping her storytelling, as she gears up for a new film release.
The director shared a video from the area on Instagram, reflecting on how much the environment influenced her creative journey.
“Back in Agege today, been a while. That market will always be a part of my story. It’s where so many of my characters were born, where the colors, voices, and moments first inspired the stories I tell,” she wrote.
She also hinted at what’s next, adding, “This year, I’m returning to where it all began… with a new film. Coming to cinemas soon.”
While she didn’t reveal the title or release date, the message suggests the project may reconnect with the kind of grassroots storytelling that defined her early work.
Biodun Stephen began her filmmaking journey with The Visit in 2015 and has since built a strong catalogue across romantic drama and comedy. Her films include Picture Perfect, Tiwa’s Baggage, Seven and a Half Dates, Breaded Life, Progressive Tailors Club, Aki and Pawpaw, Sista, and Muri & Ko.
In recent years, she has remained active in projects such as Big Love and Different Strokes, while earning recognition at major industry platforms, including the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards and the Best of Nollywood Awards.
Her latest update has already sparked interest, with many expecting another relatable story rooted in everyday Nigerian experiences.
