Nigerian disc jockey Princess Ntuk, widely known as DJ Pretty Play, has completed her attempt to break the record for the longest marathon club DJing session.
She began the 288-hour challenge on March 11 at Bay Lounge in Lekki, Lagos, and pushed through until Monday, reaching the target after days of nonstop performance.
Before starting, she shared her mindset going into the challenge, writing, “I step out with one mission, to push beyond limits and attempt history.
This is more than a challenge; it’s about discipline, passion, and proving that with determination, anything is possible. I’m officially attempting to break the Guinness World Records for the longest marathon club DJing, and every second counts.”
The journey to this point was not without setbacks. Her first attempt, which started on March 3, had to be stopped after 3 days because she breached a rule set by Guinness World Records.
According to the guidelines, a song must not be repeated within four hours. The violation led to an automatic disqualification, forcing her to restart the entire process.
Despite that setback, she returned with renewed focus and completed the challenge, drawing support from several celebrities who showed up to support her during the attempt. Among those present were Anita Joseph, Charles Okocha, Ini Edo, and music stars D’banj and Slimcase.
Her 288-hour run has now been completed, but it still needs to be officially verified. Guinness World Records requires detailed evidence, including continuous video recordings, witness statements, and time logs, before confirming any attempt.
The current record is 244 hours and 2 minutes, set by Faber Moreira in May 2024. If her attempt is approved, DJ Pretty Play will surpass that mark and set a new global record.
