Shakira Set to Shake Madrid With Record-Breaking Concert

Shakira Spotted in High Spirits After Emergency Hospitalization in Peru

Shakira is set to spark a cultural phenomenon in Madrid after selling more than 500,000 tickets in record time for her highly anticipated European residency.

The overwhelming demand for the Colombian superstar has been described as “inevitable.” Within just a few hours, fans secured every available seat, instantly making the residency the biggest in Europe for 2026. In response to the surge, two additional dates—October 10 and 11—have been added, bringing the total number of shows to 11 nights this fall.

Produced by Live Nation Spain, the residency will introduce a new international concert format never before experienced in the country. The performances are scheduled to take place at the specially designed Shakira Stadium, a large-scale temporary venue integrated into Iberdrola Music.

The venue, designed by Bjarke Ingels Group, will accommodate over 50,000 fans each night and feature advanced acoustics alongside 360-degree visibility, creating a fully immersive experience centered on the “language of the rhythm.”

Beyond the music, the residency is envisioned as a temporary cultural hub within the Spanish capital. Curated by Shakira herself, the space will host Es Latina, a vibrant cultural festival described as a “transnational community.”

The festival will feature a wide range of activities, including art exhibitions, literary workshops, curated gastronomy, film screenings, and talks celebrating Latin resilience and creativity.

This achievement comes on the heels of a historic moment earlier in the year, when Shakira drew an estimated 400,000 fans to a free концерт at Zócalo in Mexico City—the largest crowd ever recorded at the iconic location. These milestones further cement her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour as the highest-grossing tour ever by a Hispanic artist.

Ahead of her Madrid residency, the global star is also set to headline the renowned Todo Mundo No Rio concert at Copacabana Beach on May 2.

From her Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nomination to her recent GRAMMY® win for Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, Shakira continues to demonstrate that her music remains a powerful symbol of strength and global unity.
