Barbara Mabela Lands Acting Role in Scandal!

Award-winning South African rapper Barbara Mabela, popularly known as Rouge, is stepping into acting with a new role in the hit eTV soapie Scandal!.

The music star will play Darlene Myrie, a complex character whose storyline is expected to bring a mix of drama, mystery, and emotional depth to the show.

According to the network, Darlene arrives in Johannesburg in search of answers surrounding the mysterious death of her brother, photographer Samka Myrie.

Her investigation leads her into the shadowy world of the Level Up Apartments, where she becomes entangled with key figures connected to the case.

Driven by grief and a relentless pursuit of truth, Darlene encounters two men, Mdala and Hlogi, who are linked to her brother’s death. As the story unfolds, her determination and resilience position her as a force to be reckoned with.

The character is portrayed as a sophisticated and adaptable woman of Jamaican heritage who has traveled widely.

She is capable of navigating both elite social circles and street-level realities, using her intelligence and ability to shift identities and accents to stay ahead.

Rouge’s transition into acting has drawn strong support from fellow celebrities. Rapper Moozlie praised her with the message, “That’s my girl,” while her husband, Macmillian Mabaleka, expressed excitement, writing, “Yebo! Let’s go.” Actress Simphiwe Ngema also joined in celebrating the milestone.
