Controversial Nigerian social media personality Peller has fired back at TVC News following backlash over his recent comments about luxury travel and Nigerian civil servants.
The criticism began after the media outlet called out his remarks, suggesting that civil servants cannot afford vacations like the Maldives, a statement many online users interpreted as insensitive amid Nigeria’s current economic challenges.
Reacting in anger, Peller lashed out at the station and one of its presenters, accusing them of repeatedly targeting him and misrepresenting his statements.
He also issued a strongly worded response during the exchange:
“If I buy TVC, I will first sack that lady that drags me all the time… she says anything working in Nigeria can go to Maldives…”
His comments quickly spread across social media, triggering mixed reactions. While some users defended him, arguing that he is constantly singled out by traditional media, others criticised his tone, describing it as aggressive and inappropriate.
The controversy adds to an ongoing tension between online influencers and mainstream media platforms in Nigeria, particularly around issues of accountability, tone, and public influence.
As of the time of filing this report, TVC News and the presenter involved have not issued any further response to the remarks.
