Popular TikToker and streamer Peller has been granted bail in the sum of ₦500,000 after appearing before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court over allegations arising from his recent encounter with police officers on Lagos’ Coastal Road.
Peller was arraigned alongside his associate, Bello Oladipo, on a three-count charge bordering on allegedly obstructing police officers, resisting lawful arrest, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.
According to the prosecution, the defendants allegedly obstructed ASP Agbede Victor and three other police officers while they were carrying out their official duties.
The charges also alleged that the pair resisted lawful arrest and engaged in conduct capable of causing a breach of public peace by allegedly threatening and recording the officers during the incident.
The case stems from an incident on July 2, when police officers reportedly stopped Peller for driving a vehicle without a registration number plate.
While the TikToker reportedly explained that he had only recently purchased the vehicle, officers allegedly insisted that he accompany them to the police station for further investigation.
The prosecution claimed that Peller and Oladipo resisted the officers during the encounter, thereby preventing them from performing their lawful duties.
When the charges were read before the court, both Peller and Bello Oladipo pleaded not guilty to all three counts.
Following their arraignment, the presiding magistrate granted each defendant bail for ₦500,000.
The court also imposed additional conditions, directing that:
- One of the sureties must be a blood relative.
- Both defendants must provide tax clearance certificates for the last two years before their bail can be perfected.
The matter was subsequently adjourned for further proceedings.
