Veteran Nollywood actress Ayo Adesanya is stepping into a more personal space, and this time, it is not about movies but real-life stories.
The actress has revealed that her new podcast, Real Life With Aunty Ayo, was inspired by her own experiences, including surviving domestic violence.
In a recent interview, Ayo shared that her goal is simple yet powerful: to create a safe space where people can open up, learn, and heal together.
“I have been through domestic violence… I want us to learn together and heal together,” she said, making it clear that the project is deeply personal.
For her, it is not just about talking but also about listening. She explained that hearing people’s struggles and understanding how they navigate life’s challenges are meaningful to her.
“It’s a privilege that people can open up to me,” she added.
Interestingly, this move is not entirely new territory for her. Ayo studied Communication and Language Arts at the University of Ibadan, a background she says has helped her transition into this space with confidence.
She also reflected on how times have changed, noting that conversations around sensitive issues like abuse and personal struggles were once difficult to have publicly.
“Years ago, we couldn’t discuss some of these things openly. It shows we have come a long way,” she said.
Known for her roles in classic Yoruba films and Nollywood productions, Ayo Adesanya is now using her voice beyond the screen, connecting with audiences more directly and more impactfully.
With Real Life With Aunty Ayo, she is not just telling stories; she is creating a space where people feel seen, heard, and hopefully, a little less alone.
