Former Senate President Bukola Saraki and former Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed are set to be arraigned on June 4 over a 20-count charge linked to the 2018 Offa robbery.
The case will be heard before Justice Haleemah Salman at the Kwara State High Court, following charges filed by the state government through the Attorney General, Ibrahim Sulyman.
Also named in the suit are Yusuf Abdulwahab and Alabi Olalekan.
According to the prosecution, the defendants are facing allegations including conspiracy and culpable homicide in connection with the April 2018 robbery incident in Offa.
The charges follow the Court of Appeal’s upholding of the convictions of the main suspects in the case, including Ayo Akinnibosun.
Prosecutors claim that statements made during the trial by Akinnibosun linked the attack to a political network, alleging that the defendants provided support and arms to those involved.
The state government also alleged that some of the suspects were seen with Bukola Saraki during a visit to Offa after the robbery.
Additionally, authorities claimed that vehicles and other items connected to the case were recovered from government facilities in Kwara State in 2018 and were used as evidence.
Akinnibosun was also said to have alleged that he received rifles, a vehicle, and financial support from Abdulwahab.
Both Bukola Saraki and Abdulfatah Ahmed have denied the allegations, maintaining that the case is politically motivated and aimed at damaging their reputations.
The upcoming arraignment is expected to draw significant attention as the long-running Offa robbery case continues to unfold in court.
