Activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has stirred reactions after a video showed him mocking former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, during a court appearance.
In the clip making rounds online, Sowore appeared to taunt the former justice minister over his current legal troubles, suggesting he is now facing the same flawed system he once defended while serving under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Addressing Malami in the video, Sowore said the former AGF was now experiencing what many critics had long warned about.
“Now you see how it feels to be persecuted. When you were with former president Buhari then, you were bragging. We warned you that the justice system was failing, but you didn’t listen. Now the system is dealing with you,” he said.
The remark has since generated debate online, with supporters and critics reacting to Sowore’s pointed comments.
Many viewed his statement as a sharp critique of Nigeria’s justice system and a reminder of longstanding accusations that institutions were weaponized during previous administrations.
Others saw it as a personal jab aimed at a former top government official now facing the very legal pressures he once oversaw.
The exchange has added another layer of attention to Malami’s legal troubles, while also reigniting conversations around accountability, justice and political irony.
Sowore, known for his confrontational activism, has often criticized the justice system and government institutions, making his latest remarks consistent with his long held stance.
The viral courtroom moment has now become the latest talking point in Nigeria’s political space.
